![]() An earlier reviewer said the sushi was every bit as good as that found in New York. Service was attentive, Plates were cleared almost immediately. Desserts included ice cream, pudding, and several types of cake. The price was right-$13.75 for the dinner buffet $9.99 for the lunch buffet. The assortment of foods was outstanding-oysters, baby clams, mussels, shrimp, crab, fried seafood, a wide variety of sushi, etc.-literally something for everyone. Jing Du comes about as close as possible to a good buffet restaurant as we're likely to find here during our lifetime. My wife and I have spent the month of February in Fort Myers for approximately the past 20 years and have never really found a decent Chinese, Japanese, or Thai restaurant in all that time. Bring your friends and family, and enjoy.Īs a rule, I'm not a fan of Asian buffet restaurants, so I wasn't too sure I wanted to try this one, until I read some of the very positive reviews on Trip Advisor. Would recommend the Jing Du in Fort Myers for casual, inexpensive and family buffet type dining. I left a "normal " tip anyways, I always wonder what to leave as a tip when you eat at a buffet. The only small concern I had was that the wait staff had to be asked to come to our table as they walked by, but it is a buffet. The atmosphere is casual, family style buffet dining. The price is right here, the food was delicious, fresh and hot. Overall, great experience. My friends and I took our time, we relaxed and we talked for hours and never felt we were being rushed out the door. The Hostess was very accommodating when I asked to move my party to a table, rather than a booth. ![]() The atmosphere is very informal and loud ,with lots of foot traffic, but that is to be expected with any buffet, right? The Staff was very helpful when asked for assistance. Good variety of desserts for the kids too. The Restaurant has both Japanese and Chinese buffet lines.personally, I spent most of my time in the Chinese line and found the food variety plentiful and hot. We're coming back here, next time we're in Fort Myers. ![]() And very impressed with the reasonable prices, about $14 per Adult and about $7 per child ( dinner time ). I was pleasantly surprised on both the quality and quantity of food available here. You may find it worth the drive to go to the Asia Buffet in Cape Coral, which has a much more diverse hot buffet and costs less! And, they have both hibachi and sushi live prep stations.Went to Jing Du for dinner with friends in March 2015. Maybe the "chef" was in the kitchen getting some? I can't remember anything else that I had to eat, so "forgettable" is an accurate description of Jing Du. ![]() When I went to the "hibachi" station, no one was there to cook, and there were no bean sprouts in sight. When I looked for hot mustard, the only thing that I could find was small plastic packets, like those that you find in the bottom of a bag of carryout. There was not a single pork preparation to be found. The hot buffet line contained six different meat items, including unseasoned and unflavored chicken wings - a Japanese specialty? Of the remaining meat items, all were chicken with the exception of a single beef dish. I didn't finish it, and decided not to try any of the other offerings. This seemed to be confirmed by the flavor, which didn't taste like any Salmon that I've had before. When I got back to the table, and took a closer look, the color of the fish seemed artificial. So, I started with the most basic - Salmon - no sauce, nor herbs, nor vegetables, just rice. This establishment has a reputation for Sushi, and the visual display and apparent variety is impressive. If you're confused, and disappointed, then so was I. Therefore, conspicuous by its absence, was egg roll - something to be found on virtually every other oriental buffet in Southwest Florida but not here. ![]() The sign on the outside of the building says "Japanese" buffet, but the first item that I saw was egg drop soup, which is Chinese in origin. ![]()
